Hay can be moved from the chest to the Silo when necessary. Instead of buying multiple silos, hay can be stored in a chest (when received as a gift in the mail from Marnie or withdrawn from the Hay Hopper before a Coop or Barn is fully upgraded).Additionally, when you can, pulling hay from your silos to put in that chest and refilling the silos from cutting grass. The hay from gifts and wheat you save in a chest for when you have less grass in later game. Since all grass dies in Winter and farm animals will entirely rely on hay for the whole season, it's advisable to cut as much grass as needed to fill the silo(s) near the end of fall, even if it takes all the grass left on the farm. Protip: dont put hay from wheat or gifts into your silos.Cutting grass with a sword or similar weapon does not provide hay: only a scythe will stock the silo.It takes fewer resources to build than other buildings, and allows a good stock of hay to be gathered before actually having to meet the needs of any animals. What seems to be malfunctioning is the feeding process, be it the coops and barns or the user. You could also wait a couple of weeks for the update that lets you move buildings. The answer is yes, your silos are working. I think you either have to build a coop/barn and take out the hay through there or first build another silo where you want it, and then demolish the other one, since silos have a shared inventory. The silo is a good choice as a first building to be purchased. If not you will have to manually take out the Hay and place it in their food troths.Hay stored in the silo is accessible through the hay hoppers located inside Coops and Barns to be used for feeding their respective animals. ![]() If you hay shelves are full, you cant pull multiple hay from the hopper. Then you can take multiple hay and it will properly stack in your inventory, and then you can stash it in a chest.
